GIVE KIDS THE WORLD

Close your eyes and picture a child’s idea of heaven. There’d be free ice cream and Christmas every week, a place for puppet shows and pool parties and maybe even a gingerbread house so big you could actually walk inside. Give Kids The World is an over 70-acre, non-profit resort for children with life-threatening illnesses whose one wish is to visit Central Florida’s best-loved attractions. With the help of many generous individuals and corporations, Give Kids The World Village then completes the wish with accommodations at its whimsical resort, donated attraction tickets and meals for a week-long, cost-free vacation.

The builders, who are members of the Master Custom Builder Council, are proud to have been an important part of the expansion at Give Kids The World, and had the privilege to build 21 new villas at the village. The MCBC continues to partner with Give Kids The World for fundraising and other special events.

HOWARD PHILLIPS CENTER FOR CHILDREN & FAMILIES

It’s no secret that Central Florida is home to a large number of children and families. What is less well-known is how many of those families struggle with significant issues like child abuse, access to healthcare and parenting children with special needs. Every day, The Howard Phillips Center serves the most at-risk families in Central Florida.

The Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families is a non-profit organization that provides children and families a support system and resources so they don’t have to face overwhelming challenges alone. Anyone who asks for help will receive it. They work with Child Protective Services and host the Children’s Advocacy Center, Teen Xpress, The Healing Tree and more. The MCBC supports The Howard Phillips Center through our annual Golf Tournament and by donating funds to the HPC’s annual Spring Swirl event.

Children’s Home Society of Central Florida

The Children’s Home Society of Florida is a nonprofit organization that delivers solutions to address the most pressing challenges affecting children and families in our communities.

The MCBC supports CHS through its annual Back to School Drive and its annual Toy Drive.

Positive academic experiences are essential to the confidence and potential of children. Each year, the MCBC helps build these bridges of success by donating much needed school supplies.

For most people, the holiday season is a festive time filled with family, friends, food, fun and gifts. Sadly, some children have never felt the warmth and joy this special season brings. The MCBC believes every child deserves a gift at Christmas, so each year, during the months of November and December, the MCBC donates funds and collects gifts.

Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, non-profit organization that collects, stores and distributes donated food to more than 550 feeding partners  in six Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Last year, with the help of numerous donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributed enough food for 73 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, day care centers and Kids Cafes.

In addition to helping feed the line of neighbors who need help, Second Harvest also transforms dozens of lives directly every year. Economically-challenged adults who graduate from their 16-week culinary training program are placed in ‘better than minimum wage’ jobs that set them and their families on a path to self-sustainability.

Winter Park Day Nursery/ Orlando Day Nursery

MCBC builders and other companies in the construction industry came together to create a 1,400-square-foot addition for the nursery. The additional space allows the Winter Park Day Nursery to move the library from the office to this area so the children, ages 1-2 to 5 years, can check out books. It also allows space for music lessons and other special events and gives the teachers space to do lesson planning and to hold parenting classes.

Each year, the MCBC members and many others in the community collect beautiful pieces of costume jewelry, which are packaged in gift boxes. Each of the children at the Winter Park Nursery and the Orlando Day Nursery are allowed to select a piece of jewelry so every child has a Mother’s Day gift for their parent.
